Since opening

An idea became a place that Bochum is talking about.

Since opening on 18 May, an incredible amount has happened at Taste-Trip. The first weeks were intense, exciting and full of new experiences, because the team launched with a concept that is deliberately different for Bochum: a culinary journey around the world that has currently started with France.

It quickly became clear that the idea and, above all, the quality of the dishes are going down extremely well. The Coq au vin in particular rapidly became a favourite for many guests, while classics such as the homemade burger from Normandy were also very well received.

A lot of the feedback is not only about individual dishes, but also about the atmosphere. Taste-Trip is meant to be a place where you not only eat well but enjoy staying: for a date, a meal with friends, a lunch break, a birthday or an evening after work.

With its lunch menu, the restaurant also appeals to Bochum and especially the surrounding businesses in the city centre during the day. At the same time, the catering and buffet side is growing, because many guests recommend Taste-Trip and both private and business enquiries are increasing noticeably.

Founder

David Schmidt brings together hospitality, family and the feeling of travel.

Founder David Schmidt is 29 years old, comes from a family of restaurateurs and combines operational experience at Taste-Trip with a clear idea: to give Bochum a restaurant that regularly feels new without losing its hospitality.

The concept is deliberately emotional, but not loud. Instead of putting a single dish in the spotlight, Taste-Trip tells the story of a country through its cuisine, space, service and atmosphere. The result is a restaurant visit that sparks curiosity and keeps guests coming back.

Another hospitality project by David Schmidt is the MS Schwalbe II in Witten, where a day out, water, service and dining come together.

Opening

A start full of energy, response and motivation.

The opening and the first weeks have shown that guests in Bochum are keen on a restaurant with changing cuisine and a real atmosphere. What is especially lovely is the curiosity: more and more often, guests ask which country is next on the travel plan.

It is exactly this enthusiasm that confirms the path. Taste-Trip keeps growing step by step, carried by positive feedback, rising demand for catering and the ambition to deliver every culinary stop carefully, warmly and to a high standard.

Insights

Warm, calm, welcoming: this is how Taste-Trip feels.

The rooms are deliberately not designed like a themed backdrop. They stay stylish, warm and open for each culinary chapter.
